The first of her order, and—as of the year 489 A.C. (when the events of Shadows and Crowns occur)—the only being to serve as the Goddess of Change and Control. Her chosen symbol is the Serpent. Mairu’s magic gives her the unique ability to split herself into multiple, powerful shades of her being. In the later years of her existence, these ‘shades’ were known to associate with humans and, in at least one insistence, resulted in the birth of partially divine child.
She is served by the lesser-spirit of Mimic and Memory, Mirador.
