The northernmost mortal empire. Throughout most of its history, Kethra has been comprised of four separate kingdoms: Melech, Sadira, Alnor, and Ethswen. Two of the three remaining elven realms–Mistwilde and Moreth–are also located within this empire.
Kethrans have long been divided over their acceptance of divine magic, resulting in countless wars that at one point destabilized the empire to the point of near collapse; the Kingdom of Melech briefly overtook the others during this time, creating a complicated background for the events that took place during the Shadows and Crowns series.
